Jason Manford's heartbreaking family health update as he vows to 'stay strong'

Jason Manford has taken to social media to share a "heartbreaking" family health update as he tries to "stay strong".

The Starstruck judge shared an emotional photograph of himself at his nan's bedside, after she was rushed to hospital at the age of 99.

The comedian went on to sadly reveal that Nana Manford is no longer eating as she remains in hospital, writes The Mirror.

In the update Jason said that the situation was "heartbreaking".

He wrote: "Unfortunately she's still in the hospital. Everyone is doing everything they can to get her home but she's just stopped eating (even when given a box of her favourite chocolates for Mother's Day!)

"Not sure why, she says she wants to come home, knows that eating will help this, but for whatever reason, maybe her dementia, she just won't eat."

He added: "It's heartbreaking if I'm honest, especially to see my dad upset. But we're staying strong as a family, lots of laughs and spent more time than was necessary rubbing hand cream into those 99-year-olds hands...thanks again for all your kindness in messages."

And many friends and fans of the comedian sent lovely words in the comments. One wrote: "So much love. X"

Fellow Starstruck judge Beverley Knight penned: "Huge love my Jase. Love to Nana" followed by a red love heart emoji.

While one fan added: "Aww Jase sending you all lots of love and hope Nana is home soon xx"

Jason has four children with ex-wife Catherine. They share twin girls, a daughter and a son before he married second wife Lucy in 2017. The couple have two kids together.

The 41-year-old recently joked that he goes on tour to gain some relief from his six children.

Speaking to the Daily Star, he said: "I do have six kids. What do you mean, ‘how do I tour?’ You’ve answered your own question. ‘Why do you tour?’ Why do you think!"
