Jason Manford has revealed that he goes on tour to gain some relief from his six children.
The 41-year-old comedian has four children with ex-wife Catherine; twin girls, a daughter and a son before he married second wife Lucy in 2017. The couple have two kids together.
The pressure of juggling a stand-up career and parenting six children sounds like a mammoth task for most people but Manford admitted he is pretty hands-on but does enjoy the peace of staying at a hotel on his own while he is on tour.
Speaking to the Daily Star, the Starstruck judge said: "I do have six kids. What do you mean, ‘how do I tour?’ You’ve answered your own question. ‘Why do you tour?’ Why do you think!
"I did say to my wife a few weeks back, one of the daughters was having a sleepover, she said, 'We’ve got some of her friends coming over.' I said, 'Oh, I’m not there that day because I’m on holiday. Not holiday, tour.' It did sleep out.
"People say to me all the time, 'Oh, you’re always working.' No that’s just all I talk about generally on social media, gigs I’m doing and where I’m off to. I’m off usually Sunday to Wednesday.
"Then I work Wednesday to Saturday. I’m around quite a bit, I generally have the school holidays off. I’m touring this year but then I won’t tour for two or three years."
Jason's eldest daughters will become teenagers this summer and he has ensure he is not ready to hang up the microphone just yet as they will provide jokes for years to come.
He added: "I’ve not got anything about them in this current tour, but I’ve got little ideas but I’ll wait until the next one because my daughters are about to turn into teenagers.
"I feel as though that’s going to be rich pickings. I never name them and I always try and make it sound so they’re not sure which one I’m talking about."
Last month, Manford teased that Peter Kay could be making a return to stand-up, including his first tour in a decade.
The comics have been good friends for more than 20 years after meeting at comedy venue The Buzz Club in Chorlton, Greater Manchester, and Jason told fans to "keep an eye out" for Peter's potential comedy comeback.
Speaking on Dublin radio station FM104's Strawberry Alarm Clock show, Jason said: "He's great, Pete. We've known each other a long time, it must be 25 years. It's been a hell of a ride.
"He's just an absolute legend isn't he? What a treasure. Hopefully back himself soon, doing stand-up, so keep your eye out for his tour. Not that he needs you to buy a ticket as much as I do."
