Jason Manford issues warning to Peter Kay fans as tickets resell for staggering £1,770

Jason Manford has called for eye-watering resale ticket prices to be made illegal as fans claim websites are trying to fleece them for £1,770 to see Peter Kay live.

People have been left furious after seeing the huge prices appear online as they struggle to get to see the 49-year-old star.

Many were left disappointed after they missed out tickets for what will be first tour in 12 years and will see him play shows across the UK.

But there is outrage at the resale prices after the star took the step to make most of his tickets just £35 as millions struggle.

Jason says it's time the end what many call legalised touting after being asked for his views by a follower.

One comedy fan asked Jason for his view on social media, writing: "Jase, seriously, you go through all this yourself. Surely the promoters knew the demand that was coming. Why is it so poorly organised?"

He replied: "I don’t know, reselling tickets at a profit should be illegal. Until they do something in parliament then I imagine a lot of ticket sellers hands are tied.

"But we live in a capitalist society with a Tory government so chances are about the same as you getting Peter Kay tickets!"

In true style, he then cracked a joke to raise a smile.

He tweeted: "Phew lucky enough to get 2x Peter Kay tickets. For sale 2x Peter Kay tickets, £3500 each ono".

Funnyman Peter wanted to recognise the cost of living crisis, went on sale today but many dates sold out in minutes.

Soon afterwards, Manchester tickets were advertised for £1,770 on one resale website, Viagogo.

Fan Adrian Thomas tweeted: “2 hours I won’t get back queuing for Peter Kay tickets to find they’re sold out. Yet plenty re-selling for 10 times the price. Scumbags.”

Tim Salmon added: “If you’ve bought tickets and intend seeing Peter Kay then well done. If you plan on selling them for profit then I hope your day ends miserably.”

Around two million queued online for his comeback tour – his first shows in 12 years. After it sold out, more dates were added. The tour – now over 100 nights – starts on December 2.

It was due to end next August but will run into 2025.

Viagogo said: “After 12 years away, the high demand for Peter’s shows is to be expected but it’s important to note that once the initial excitement settles, so too will the market and prices.”

Mike Robinson, UK Country Lead at TicketSwap says affordable resale tickets will be available on the TicketSwap website.

He told The Mirror: "What we’re seeing right now is profiteering, with some resale sites quoting prices of up to £1,180 for Peter Kay tickets - amounting to a mark-up of 3271%.

"TicketSwap was created by fans for fans - to allow genuine people who can’t make a show to sell their tickets to other fans in a fair and ethical way.

"With Peter Kay tickets ranging from £35 to £135, TicketSwap caps resale prices so you’ll never pay over the odds. You can join the waiting list for Peter Kay resale tickets on TicketSwap now for his shows in Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, and Glasgow."
