Jason Cummings stunned by fanatical Indian welcome after Mohun Bagan make him nation's highest paid player

Jason Cummings admits he's been blown away by the huge response to his arrival in India from fans of new club Mohun Bagan.

The former Hibs, Rangers, Dundee and Scotland striker has left Central Coast Mariners after 18 months in Australia and helped them win the A-League Grand Final in his final match. Cummings is now the highest-paid player in India after signing a mega three-year deal to move to champions Mohun Bagan and the hype has already been huge.

Cummings said: "I have watching the development of Indian football for a few years now and when I got the chance to play for Mohun Bagan, I did some more research. Mohun Bagan has a centuries-old tradition and glorious history in Indian football and they are the best club in the country because they won the league. I am very hopeful I will win more trophies here. When I spoke to manager Juan Ferrando I realised they want more than just to win the league.

"They want to establish themselves on the international stage by doing well in the AFC Cup. My personality is similar to this idea and philosophy of the club.

"My inbox has already been flooded with the best wishes of the fans of the club. I would like to thank them all for the warmth already shown by them and I can assure them I will give them everything."
