Nigel Winterburn is the latest in a long line of former players to be calling for Jarrod Bowen to receive England recognition when Gareth Southgate picks his squad next month.
The Three Lions face Switzerland and Ivory Coast in friendly matches during the next international break and many believe Bowen is more than worthy of his first call-up.
The squad will be announced by Southgate in mid-March and everyone associated will be eagerly anticipating the news to see if Bowen has made the cut.
It is understood the Hammer was close to call-up in November, but was overlooked in favour of the more established England names such as Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford. And even when Rashford pulled out of the squad through injury Southgate turned to Emile Smith Rowe as his replacement.
Winterburn was asked if Bowen should now be included ahead of Grealish and Rashford: "I think if you're just looking at it on form, then I don't think anyone could argue [agaisnt Bowen being selected," the former England international told FreeSuperTips.
However, Winterburn thinks that Southgate's trusted players will be hard to dislodge from the setup.
"I think what we have found with Gareth Southgate is that players who have performed for him do tend to get a bit of leeway. If they've produced for him in the England team then he tends to keep them in there, so it'll be interesting to see," he added.

Since Bowen missed out in November he has been in superb form for West Ham with nine goals and six assists in just 19 games, helping his cause for international recognition.
"There are a lot of English players playing in the same position, and you can't fit them all in, but in terms of form, I would be very surprised if he isn't in the England squad soon," Winterburn said.
"Even if Gareth Southgate just wants to take a look at him in training, maybe get a feel of his temperament and how he behaves in that environment.
"I think Southgate does that very well, so I would expect Bowen to be involved soon."
