Jarrod Bowen injury ‘not serious’ in boost for West Ham ahead of Sevilla clash

West Ham are breathing a sigh of relief after scans confirmed the injury suffered by star winger Jarrod Bowen in Saturday’s defeat to Liverpool is not serious.

There were fears over the Englishman after he sustained a heel injury, attempting to play on before succumbing to the pain five minutes later and being replaced.

Bowen has been in magnificent form for the Hammers this season, scoring 12 times and registering 11 assists in all competitions, and any significant spell on the sidelines would have been a major blow to David Moyes’ side’s ambitions for the remainder of the campaign.

The 25-year-old will continue to be monitored ahead of Thursday’s Europa League last-16 meeting with Sevilla.

A club statement said: “West Ham United can confirm a scan has shown that Jarrod Bowen suffered no significant damage following the injury he picked up at Liverpool on Saturday evening.

“Jarrod underwent an MRI scan in London on Sunday morning and thankfully no significant injury has occurred,” West Ham’s Head of Medical Richard Collinge added. “He will continue to be monitored by the medical team and will undergo further examination in the coming days.”
