Jarrod Bowen attempting to replicate Liverpool's Mo Salah as Stuart Pearce praises West Ham man

Jarrod Bowen has been in fine form this season with the West Ham man topping the charts for the most goal involvements of any English player in the Premier League.

Bowen has scored six and assisted nine in the league so far and has a total of nine goals and ten assists across all competitions.

The attacker's fine West Ham form has seen calls for him to receive his first England call-up when Gareth Southgate names his next Three Lions squad in March for the friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

Despite his performances, Hammers assistant coach Stuart Pearce believes there is still room for improvement.

"I still think there is a lot more to come from him, I really do," Pearce told talkSPORT. "He has great energy, he has an eye for a goal and can finish with both feet and that is the beauty of Jarrod, sometimes you look at players and they look the complete article, I think with him, and we have various players within our ranks, that I think have got more to come."

Bowen has six league goals this season and is well on his way to beating his Premier League best of eight in a single campaign and a lot of this is down to the coaching, according to Pearce.

"He gets a lot of feedback from the coaches in regard to that, a lot of good finishing drills from the manager and Paul Nevin that help his game, and Alan Irvine certainly helped him when he was at the club," he added.

Bowen's favoured position is cutting in from a wide right starting spot and this has seen comparisons made with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, someone Pearce believes Bowen can learn from.

"The comparison between him and Mo Salah, we have looked at the way Salah stands the defender up and stops and then goes again or uses the defender to curl the ball around into the far corner and I think it is just picking up a few comparisons that can help Jarrod with his game a little bit," Pearce said.

"Starting a run, then stopping it and killing a defender in his tracks, then going again, little things like that. That is why I still think he has more to come in his game."

Bowen has been reported to be on Liverpool's transfer radar with a view to a summer move, however, football.london understands that West Ham are not interested in selling the Englishman and will do all they can to keep him at the club for the long term.
