Jarlath Burns won a landslide victory to secure the GAA presidency at Croke Park tonight.
Burns was narrowly beaten by Larry McCarthy three years ago, when he was favourite to win.
This time round he saw off the challenges of Offaly’s Pat Teehan and Donegal’s Niall Erskine.
Ulster Championship winning captain, Burns got 158 votes to Teehan’s 70 and Erskine’s 49.
Elsewhere, a St. Mary’s Rosslare motion calling for every club to provide at least one hurling team at under-7, 8, 9 and 10 was defeated.
There were exceptions built into the motion where hurling is available at a local dual or hurling club, or due to demographics.
The motion, promoted by All-Ireland winning manager Liam Griffin got 34.6percent of the vote.
A Galway motion calling for their minor hurlers to be admitted to the Leinster or Munster Championship was passed with a 72.8 percent majority.
Meanwhile, Mayo boss Kevin McStay has called up Donnacha McHugh and Diarmuid O’Connor for tonight’s Division 1 encounter with league and All-Ireland champions Kerry at MacHale Park.
The duo replace Jack Coyne, who played for the University of Limerick in the Sigerson Cup final during the week, and Jack Carney.
Kerry have named Sean O’Shea and David Clifford on their bench with Paudie Clifford recalled for his first start of the year in place of Adrian Spillane.
Elsewhere, Shane Walsh has been named in the Meath side to face Derry tonight, less than a fortnight after injuring his hamstring in the win over Clare, but Matthew Costello (hamstring) isn’t in the squad.
Derry have reshuffled their side from the narrow win over Louth, drafting Padraig Cassidy into their teams in place of Lachlan Murray.
