January 2024: Latinos Get Ready for New TV Shows, Telenovelas, Streaming Gems and Movie Premieres

MIAMI - As we usher in January 2024, the entertainment landscape is set to continue dazzling with an array of new TV shows, movies, and streaming content. This month is particularly significant for its spotlight on Latino talent, showcasing a diverse narratives and perspectives that bring depth and vibrancy to screens worldwide.

Sofía Vergara, Jenna Ortega, Aaron Díaz, Adamari López, Carlos Rivera, Valentino Lanús, Yuri, Úrsula Corberó, Danny Trejo, Renata Notni, Susana González, and many more Latino artists have series, telenovelas, TV shows, and movies premiering this month. Directors J.A. Bayona and Issa López are also set to continue writing their movie history.

The first two weeks of January are set to be TV Gold

NBC's "America's Got Talent: Fantasy League" and Netflix's "Bitconned" kicked off the month on January 1st. January 4th will be a big day for Latino representation, with Netflix's "The Brothers Sun" starring Maite García and the film "La Sociedad de la Nieve," directed by J.A. Bayona, boasting an all-Latino cast. This last movie about a group of Uruguayan rugby players lost in The Andes is short-listed for an Oscar nomination in the category of Best International Film.

"Reconexion" on VIX, starring Aaron Díaz, will arrive on January 5th. TelevisaUnivision also has two big premieres on the first weekend of 2024. On Sunday it will broadcast the first episode of "Quién es la máscara" T5, and the debut of Adamari López on Unimás. The Puerto Rican TV superstar hosts "Quién Caerá".

The highly-anticipated "La Brea" hits NBC on January 9th. It will feature a robust Latino cast including Veronica St. Clair, Chloe de los Santos, Michelle Vergara Moore, Jon Seda, Nicholas Gonzalez, and Tonantzin Carmelo. The same day will see Disney+ and Hulu's release of Marvel's series "Echo" with Alejandra Jaime, and the return of "Break Point" for its second season. Eva Longoria's new movie "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip" also debuts on that day.

January 11th introduces "TED" on Peacock, and January 12th is packed with releases like "Criminal Record" on Apple TV+, "EL Gallo de Oro" on VIX featuring Lucero and José Ron, and Netflix's "Lift", a film starring Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist) and Kevin Heart. This date also marks the premiere of several other productions, including Danny Trejo's "The Night They Came Home" and "Aerial Argentina" on Netflix.

The 12th will also see the premier of the new film in the saga of Mean Girls: co-directed by Arturo Perez Jr.

HBO's "True Detective: Night Country," directed by Issa López, premieres on January 14th. The following day, the TelevisaUnivision telenovela "Tu vida es mi vida" graces screens with Valentino Lanús and Susana González.

"El Zorro", "Griselda" and "LCDLF4" drop the second week of January

The week of January 16th brings on "Death and Other Details" on Hulu with Hugo Diego García and Mauricio Romero, and the Chicago series on NBC from January 17th, featuring Latino talents in "Chicago Med," "Chicago Fire," and "Chicago P.D."

"Law & Order" franchises on NBC will introduce Rick Gonzalez on January 18th alongside other premieres like the bioseries of Spanish designer "Cristobal Balenciaga" on Disney+, featuring Alberto San Juan and Belén Cuesta, on January 19th.

Mario Casas wrote Netflix's "My Loneliness Has Wings," premiering on January 19th. The Spanish heartthrob also directed the movie, starring his little brother, Óscar Casas. But the real jewel of that day is "Griselda", the awaited movie about a Colombian drug lady, produced and starred by Sofía Vergara.

The end of the month will see "The Bachelor" and "America's Most Wanted" on ABC and Fox respectively on January 22nd. The next day, Telemundo premieres the fourth season of the hit reality "La Casa de los Famosos." "A Real Bug's Life" on Disney+ on January 24th.

Paramount+ will release "Sexy Beast" and Prime video introduces "El Zorro" with Miguel Bernardeu and Renata Notni on January 25th.Jenna Ortega stars in "Miller's Girl," and "Tótem" (Mexico Oscar short-listed) and "I.S.S." featuring Adriana de Bose, all releasing on January 26th.

This month truly embodies the richness of storytelling and the boundless creativity of filmmakers and artists worldwide. From heartwarming family dramas to gripping thrillers, there's something for every audience, with a special emphasis on celebrating Latino talent and narratives. January 2024 is not just a new chapter in entertainment; it's a vibrant showcase of cultural diversity and artistic excellence.
