Jannik Sinner has joined Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer for the most consecutive victories on a hard court during the Open Era.

After beating Taylor Fritz at the ATP Finals (6-4, 6-4) Sinner became only the third player to win 47 or more matches in consecutive campaigns on hard courts.
Roger Federer managed to reach this record during 2005 and 2006, with Djokovic managing the same feat between 2012 and 2013 – then repeating it in 2015/16.
Sinner’s fine form on the court has seen him rise to the world No. 1 spot and the Italian took advantage of key moments against Fritz to secure a win.
Despite picking up the victory, the 23-year-old admitted that the match was a very ‘tough battle’ but was prepared for a battle after their meeting at the US Open in September.
Sinner said: “It was a very tough match. We got to know each other very well in a Grand Slam final (US Open in September). We knew exactly what to expect today, he was very aggressive and I was prepared.
“I just tried to serve very well in the important moments, which I did. That was a very crucial (seventh) game in the second set, I was down 0-30. If he breaks me there, the momentum could change.
“In the return positions his quality of tennis was very, very high so I was struggling to return his serve but I was happy with the situation and it was a very important day for me today and I’m very happy that I got through.”
As previously mentioned, this was Sinner’s 47th consecutive victory on hard courts in 2024 which also includes 14 wins that won the Australian and US Opens.
The Italian had to pull out of the Paris Masters after suffering with a virus but he is now fully recovered and his fierce rival, Carlos Alcaraz, is now suffering with illness – meaning Sinner is the favourite to win the ATP Finals on the majority of UK betting sites.
