Janey Godley has opened up to her social media followers and fans on how tough life has been recently as she continues to soldier on with her chemotherapy amid her terminal cancer diagnosis.
The 62-year-old is currently battling cancer and, despite taking on a UK comedy tour, is also still receiving chemotherapy in between shows. She confirmed to her fans the heartbreaking news in December that her cancer had returned despite getting the all-clear in June last year.
The Scots comedian wrote: "Been a tough day mentally, sometimes the cancer diagnosis is a like a huge unshakeable tsunami that swamps over my whole soul.
"I know what this is doing to my family - like throwing a hand grenade into their lives and watching as the pain unfolds -but I’m still here #chemocheeks"
And fans rushed to the social media post to support Janey, as they gave her the spirit she needs to keep moving forward.
Iconic food writer and television cook Nigella Lawson said: "I’m so sorry, Janey. And sending love to you and family."
Someone else wrote: "I see it all in your eyes. Let it out. Sending love and strength everyday."
Another fan added: "It's good to reach out. Cancer is a tough diagnosis to deal with especially when it's a terminal one.
"You're human. The DMs are always open. I've a lot of experience in this field. Your posts are always very engaging so thank you."
Janey added: "I don’t need anyone’s sympathy, just sharing that sometimes the overwhelming feelings of dealing with cancer is hard- reach out … I did today."
Luckily she confirmed on Saturday morning that she was having a better day mentally.
She updated her 289k Twitter followers: "Today is a better day #cancer #anxiety #depression."
It comes as we reported previously how Janey shared a clip of her performing at Glasgow's SEC Armadillo where the crowds could be heard chanting for her.
She said: "That moment when 3000 people welcome you onstage in Glasgow at SEC Armadillo - if love could cure me I’d be healed #ovariancancer."
The tweet was accompanied by a clip of the 62-year-old comedy star on stage as she was visibly touched and overwhelmed by the cheering from her Scottish fans as she became tearful exclaiming "wow," as she was lost for words at the support.
