Janey Godley has heartbreakingly confirmed that her cancer has returned after receiving the all clear earlier this year and said she fears her 2023 tour could be her last.
The Scottish comedian told fans she is determined to get back on stage so her upcoming Not Dead Yet Tour will still go ahead but added it might be the last time she is able to perform live.
Janey informed fans her latest test has revealed signs of the disease in her abdomen in a video posted on Twitter.
She said: “My recent scan and my blood tests showed that my cancer marker went up.
“There’s still a bit of disease in my abdomen. So I want you all to know that I’ll be going through some more chemotherapy.
“I also want you to know that I’m going ahead with the tour in February and March. I am determined to get back on stage.
“I’m looking forward to the tour, I think it’s fair and honest to say it might be the last time you see me live on stage. I’m hoping it’s not, but I think it’s a fair estimation.”
Fans of the comic flooded the comment section with their well wishes and sent Janey good luck for her upcoming tour.
Former Labour and Co-operative MP Ged Killen said: "Sorry to hear this, Janey, but glad to hear you’re getting back on stage. Wishing you all the best."
River City star Leah MacRae added: "MAGIC for audiences to be entertained by her again and MAGIC for her to feel that love, laughter and appreciation from the audiences. Don’t miss one of the very BEST back on stage where she belongs x"
While Scottish actor Sean Biggerstaff said: “Really courageous, Janey.
“Fingers crossed for the best possible outcome, and best of luck for the tour.”
It comes after we reported in June that Janey had been given the all clear as she thanked the NHS for saving her life. In a tearful update, she told fans she was cancer free after a hysterectomy and several rounds of chemotherapy.
The funny woman posted the news online after a phone call from her cancer specialist revealed a clear scan and no evidence of the disease. She said: “I have just had a phone call from the cancer specialist and the scan has came back clear. There is no evidence of the disease, so after the hysterectomy and six rounds of chemo and a blood transfusion it seems like the NHS has definitely saved my life."
In September, Janey also told how she had been targeted by vile trolls who mocked her haircut after she underwent chemotherapy. She was targeted online for having a bald head and then a short pixie cut after her treatment.
She hit back at the trolls and said women had shared photos with her of their heads and hair during cancer treatment to show their love and support.
Tickets for several of the dates are still left, which you can book here.
