Janey Godley returns to stage for the first time since cancer diagnosis as comic shares video

Janey Godley has shared a video of her on tour as she returned to the stage for the first time since getting her Ovarian cancer diagnosis.

Embarking on her 'Not Dead Yet' tour, the comic is travelling across Scotland with dates in London and one in Glasgow as well as other stops including Inverness and Greenock. Taking to the stage last night, the comedian had a blast with her later taking to social media to thank everyone, telling them that she was happy to be back where she belongs, on the stage.

On Twitter she wrote: "Look at the rosy cheeks! The show went great last night was so bloody good to get back onstage - I could hardly sleep for the adrenaline rush - thanks to everyone supporting me so far."

As well as giving her followers a post-tour update, she shared an emotional video as people gave her a round of applause during her first gig back in Arbroath.

She also uploaded a video, updating people on her thoughts a day before she set off on the road. In the Beatson centre getting her chemo after a blood transfusion the night before, she said: "As soon as the chemo is done, I'm out.

"The tour starts tomorrow and I cannae wait. I cannae wait to get back on stage and as soon as I get on stage I'm just gonna feel so good.

"It will be the last tour I'll be able to do because of the cancer diagnosis, but I can't wait to get back on stage.

"I can't wait to hear people laugh. I can't wait to laugh myself. The tour starts tomorrow after I've been off stage for a year and a bit. F*** cancer, I'm super excited."

The comic then joked that she could be "Harry Styles' backing dancer I'm that full of energy" after saying that the transfusion made her "hyper."

The 61-year-old has been open about her journey with cancer with her telling Lorraine Kelly during her morning TV show that her cancer is "treatable but not curable".

In one of latest Instagram videos she added: "I want to thank the Beatson, the Scottish NHS, everybody who has supported me."

Janey Godley will perform in Glasgow's SEC on March 5 2023.
