Janey Godley has said she thinks it would be ‘cracking’ if she dropped dead on stage, ahead of her tour next month.
The Glasgow comedian is set to begin her tour while undergoing chemotherapy to treat her ovarian cancer. The 61-year-old said there is a risk the treatment may lead to vomiting during a performance, adding that there is also a chance she could die during a routine.
She told the Loose Ends podcast: “I’m not dead yet. I have ovarian stage three cancer and I’m getting some more treatment. So by the time the tour goes I’ll have been through some chemotherapy.

“But I’m not a woman who dies on my knees, I’ll die standing on my feet. So I’m ready to go on tour and if I happen to be on stage and just peg it right there I think that’ll be cracking.
“It will be great. It’s the way to do it.
“What comedians need is that extra edge. That extra edge is (a) will I die? And (b) am I going to vomit with the chemo?
“I hope I walk out and people go ‘How come you’re not dead yet?”
This comes days after Janey reflected on her 2022, sharing an emotional snap of her husband shaving off her hair back in February. Shortly after her cancer diagnosis, she made the decision to shave her locks off before losing them to chemotherapy.
Heading into the New Year, she reshared the snap and said it was her favourite of the year. She added: “My fav photo of 2022, my husband shaving the remains of my hair through the first chemo sessions.
“We both cried, he was so gentle.”
