Janey Godley hits back at trolls who target her for 'having bald head' after cancer battle

Janey Godley has hit out at trolls who hate slated her for her haircut.

The Scots comedian took to social media to have her say after she was targeted on Twitter by people slagging off her appearance. Last year, Janey cut her long locks into a pixie cut as she underwent chemotherapy to combat her ovarian cancer diagnosis.

Just before Christmas, the 61-year-old revealed that she would have to undergo a hysterectomy after doctors found a tumour on her ovary following a period of suffering stomach and back pains, a bloated tummy, loss of appetite, and frequent urination.

But despite the major op, she had to undergo further treatment as she had advanced to stage three, meaning the cancer had spread. After a brave fight, Janey was given the all clear during the summer and she shared her journey online, also showing that her hair was growing back too.

Janey, who is best known for her hilarious voiceovers, took to her Facebook page to say that she has been targeted by trolls for the way she looks and particularly, her hair cut.

Posting to her fans, she wrote: "Over the last few days I had been slagged off and trolled by Scottish unionists on twitter for having a bald head and or just short white hair, apparently am either gay or collecting cats, the reason I am telling you this is so many women shared with me their photos of their heads and hair during cancer treatment that it became an outpouring of love and support on twitter and I couldn’t be anymore joyful. Incidentally there’s nothing wrong with being gay and having cats!"

Fans were quick to flock to the comments. One wrote: "For goodness sake what sad, bored and cruel people they are!! Sending positive vibes and love to everyone who is going through treatment and those that have come through xx."

Another added: "People who make derogatory remarks, " should think on ", they don't know what lies ahead in their own lives. But to make rude remarks about cancer suffers or cancer survivors is absolutely abhorrent . Well done Janey, you are a survivor and a great inspiration to all."

While another said: "Some people are vile! It's shocking that you have to put up with this!"
