Janey Godley has a message for anyone sending her hateful tweets following her recent devastating health update.
The comedian, 61, took to Twitter this morning [December 16] to remind those 'rejoicing' at the news her cancer has returned that 'karmic revenge isn't true' and ask people to be kind to themselves.
Janey told her followers on Twitter how she has received messages from people who claim she deserves to have incurable cancer due to her past offensive tweets.
The comedian was told she was cancer free in June this year but shared on Tuesday how recent test results have shown remaining signs of the disease.
As she delivered an update to her fans, Janey explained how she will still be performing her upcoming Not Dead Yet tour dates across the U.K next year but admitted it may be "the last time" she performs live on stage.
Following her video message earlier this week, Janey was flooded with support from fans and famous friends all wishing her well and pledging to see her on tour.
But writing on Twitter today, the star seemingly revealed not every message she has received on social media has been kind.
In the first of two tweets, Janey wrote: "Remember, if you are sending me hateful tweets to rejoice that I have incurable cancer because you think I deserve it for my past tweets, then you better watch out what’s coming at you, as I hope for your sake that karmic revenge isn’t true.
"Be kind to yourself not me. Peace."
She went on to add: "To say that people get cancer for past misdemeanours, you are suggesting that babies born with cancer are somehow to 'blame' for their own medical misfortune and other people reading your posts to me are affected by this theory.
"So think about that."
Janey was axed from a Scottish Government Covid-19 campaign last year after historic offensive tweets resurfaced, including jibes about disabled people, Chornobyl victims and black celebrities Kelly Rowland and Snoop Dogg.
Speaking to STV in March this year, Janey apologised for using "offensive, hurtful language" that had "terrible, horrific undertones".
According to Scottish Daily Express, she said: "I really hurt people, I made people feel othered. I made people so upset and said things which were really offensive and hurtful.
"I’m not the victim here – the victims are the people I hurt and it’s for them to consider my apology. I won’t ever stop being ashamed of what I said."
Janey was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November 2021 and has since undergone chemotherapy treatment and a hysterectomy procedure.
In June this year, the comedy star shared a video on social media in which she told fans: "I’ve just had a phone call from the cancer specialist and the scan has come back clear."
But in a video message shared with her Twitter followers on Tuesday, Janey shared how recent tests have revealed her cancer has returned.
"My recent scan and my blood tests showed that my cancer marker went up," the star explained in the video.
"There’s still a bit of disease in my abdomen. So I want you all to know that I’ll be going through some more chemotherapy.
She added: "I also want you to know that I’m going ahead with the tour in February and March. I am determined to get back on stage."
The Scottish star admitted it may be the "last time" she performs live on stage next year, with the tour scheduled to kick off in Scotland in February 2023 with some additional dates in London.
