Janey Godley 'grateful' for support amid ongoing cancer battle

Scots comedian Janey Godley has said she is grateful for support after a Tory Party campaign mocked her as she showed off her new makeover.

Janey, who is currently battling stage 3 ovarian cancer and showed off her pixie style and make up, thanked fans online and told of her gratitude in life.

She said: "Today I am grateful for ....My family who have supported me endlessly, My twitter and FB pals who hold me up when I buckle, My wee dog who came to us in the most precarious circumstances My GP who insisted I lie back and let her feel my abdomen."

The Glasgow-born author and actress also thanked people specifically with regards to an “utterly despicable” Scottish Tory attack aimed at her.

The party, led by Douglas Ross, posted a mock “contract” on Twitter looking for someone to star in a public health campaign.

They wrote: “The First Minister chose to make her nationalist friend the face of a crucial public health campaign despite admitting she was seen as a partisan political figure."

“When will @NicolaSturgeon apologise for this irresponsible decision?”

The ad referred to Janey's participation in a Scottish Government Covid-19 public health campaign.

She was pulled from the campaign following historical tweets being published.

She apologised unreservedly and gave the £10,000 she got for it to charity.

People hit out to defend Janey given her poor state of health.

SNP’s Ross Colquhoun wrote:“The person you are referring to is currently receiving treatment for a serious illness.

"This tweet is misjudged, ill timed and very unkind."

Another added: "Maybe you didn't know, but that person is currently very unwell and she could do without a revival of this story at the moment."
