Janey Godley gives fans health update as she continues weekly chemotherapy sessions

Scottish comedian Janey Godley has given her fans an update on her health as she posted a video on her social media beaming with joy to alert everyone her cancer markers were back down to normal.

It comes as the 62-year-old mum fights ovarian cancer which sadly cannot be cured, but she is continuing chemotherapy in a bid to control it.

And she certainly isn't holding back on the fight, as we previously reported her gruelling sessions in Glasgow's Beatson centre where she is receiving her chemotherapy without fail each week.

Janey said on Twitter: "My cancer marker is now at normal through getting chemo weekly- and I have a scan soon - hoping it’s good news, the best we can hope for is I hold off the cancer for a few months before it returns and we start all over again chasing it round my peritoneum."

The news was met by a flood of well-wishers for the Scottish star, having raked in over 10.6k likes already despite only being posted last night on Monday.

Dr Amir Khan, who regularly appears on ITV's Lorraine and Good Morning Britain, said: "So happy for you!"

Doctor and retired Vogue model Meenal Viz added: "Amazing news, Janey," as she shared a string of hearts.

A fan quipped: "Take care, Janey, it must be exhausting and stressful not only for you but your whole family as well!"

"Yay! Keep going!," penned another supportive fan.

We previously reported how Janey was forced to "say goodbye" to her much-loved sweet treats a few weeks ago in a bid to lose weight as she continues her cancer journey.

The Scots comedian is currently taking on a UK comedy tour whilst still receiving chemotherapy in between shows. She confirmed to her fans the heartbreaking news in December that her cancer had returned despite getting the all-clear in June last year.

It hasn't been an easy ride for the comedy icon, who has also been targeted by online trolls throughout her health battles.

Last week, Janey was forced to respond to a troll who told her “you're meeting your maker soon” as fans were outraged at the vile taunts.

She was quick to put the troll in their place by calling out the callous behaviour before wishing them a “good day".

Janey wrote: "I will be remembered for being a strong rape survivor, a good mother, a supportive human - you will be remembered for trolling a woman dying of cancer on a social media platform - I wish you peace and love as it always wins over hate."
