Janey Godley 'crying' as fans send her 'so much love' after cancer returns

Janey Godley has thanked her fans for sending well-wishes and 'so much love' after she confirmed her cancer treatment will be resuming.

The Glasgow comedian posted yesterday on Twitter that recent tests showed signs of the disease in her abdomen after she was given the all clear in June 2021. Despite the diagnosis, she has said her upcoming Not Dead Yet Tour will go ahead as planned.

A flood of support poured in for the comic following the news with hundreds of people sending her messages of support.

Following the announcement, she tweeted: "Thanks everyone, been crying here reading all your responses. My family want to thank you all for so much love today."

Janey continued to share Twitter updates on her treatment this morning as she had bloods taken.

She said: "Bloods done thanks to my awesome practice nurse and GP and Scottish NHS - their continued top class treatment not just to me but to everyone I see at the Beatson cancer centre weekly, busy clinics and chemo wards. I am very blessed."

In the initial video confirming the news, Janey said she expects this may be the final time she appears live on stage, but said she is "hoping it's not".

She said: “My recent scan and my blood tests showed that my cancer marker went up.

“There’s still a bit of disease in my abdomen. So I want you all to know that I’ll be going through some more chemotherapy.

“I also want you to know that I’m going ahead with the tour in February and March. I am determined to get back on stage.

“I’m looking forward to the tour, I think it’s fair and honest to say it might be the last time you see me live on stage. I’m hoping it’s not, but I think it’s a fair estimation.”
