Janey Godley asks fans for advice as hair begins to fall out amid cancer treatment

Janey Godley asked fans for advice after admitting her hair has started falling out amid her ongoing cancer treatment.

The Scots comedian was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November after suffering stomach and back pains, a bloated tummy, loss of appetite, and frequent urination.

Following a full hysterectomy operation in January she was told the cancer had advanced to stage three meaning it had spread and would require further treatment including chemotherapy.

Janey recently cut her long locks into a pixie cut after starting her course of chemo but she now says even that short hair is falling out.

She told her followers online: "I might have to go really short as even this hair is now falling out all over the house - I don’t want to shave my head though as I have been advised against this #chemo - I’ll go get the hair trimmer and go to a number one?"

Fans gave mixed views on whether she should go shorter, shave off completely or wear a hair scarf or hat.

One said: "I was advised not to shave it off, tempted as I was, apparently that can damage the hair follicles and cause problems when it comes back, cosy hats and soft silk scarves worked well for me."

Another added: "With me a few bits kept growing even though most of it fell so I cropped to No1. Skin on my scalp got very sensitive so I didn't want to shave."

Another volunteered: "My mum got an amazing wig from Parrucche in Glasgow with the voucher you get from NHS. They are amazing in there and styled it for her too. They are really wonderful"

Janey also told her fans that she intends keeping the short cut afterwards, should her treatment work.

She told one follower: "Thanks pal everyone keeps saying that I won’t go back to long hair when I hopefully get the chance to do so."
