Janey Godley announces she is going back on tour with her 'Not Dead Yet' show following cancer battle

Janey Godley has revealed she is delighted to be going back out on tour after a 'tough time' and has named her tour 'Not Dead Yet' after receiving messages from trolls wishing her dead.

The Scots comedian took to Twitter to say that she would be back on the stage with her new show next year after she had to take a break from performing after she was diagnosed with cancer. Janey was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and has been battling the disease and updating her fans throughout as she went through operations and treatment. Following gruelling chemotherapy sessions, back in June the funny woman announced that her latest scan came back clear.

The 61-year-old is a stand up comedian, however during the coronavirus pandemic she became well known for her funny clips and voice overs impersonating the likes of Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, despite her huge online presence, she said she's excited to get back on the stage.

Talking about her tour on the website, Janey wrote: "I am still NOT DEAD YET and bringing my tour back on the road. So many stories of heart-warming love and outpouring of support to the occasional daily messages hoping I might die soon because … well I am a woman who answered back. There will be voiceovers and anecdotes, straight from the woman who wouldn’t die or shut up. Come join me! Please watch social media for more details and this page for future listings."

Speaking to the camera with a huge smile on her face, Janey said: "Hi there, it is getting late and I'm sitting here thinking about my life and what is going on then I realise that on the 7th of February next year, I am going to Galashiels to do a gig and I canny believe that I'm getting to go back on tour again. And it's been such a tough time but so much positivity and support from everybody out there."

Janey also revealed that she will be joined on the tour by her daughter Ashley. Ashley has followed in her mother's footsteps and is also a comedian. She said: "Ashley of course is coming with me, she will be supporting me on the tour. I can't wait to get strong, get healthy and get back up there again. Do come out and see me, thank you so much for all your support and check out Not Dead Yet."

The tour will be 27 dates in total all over Scotland with three dates in London.

And many were delighted that she was returning to the stage and flocked to the comments. One wrote: "Love the hair and looking forward to the show!" Another said: "Can't wait and it's really lovely to see you looking so well." Whilst one added: "Looking good Janey."

Last Christmas, Janey found out that she had ovarian cancer after experiencing some symptoms of bloating and frequent urination. In January, she underwent a hysterectomy but was told she would need to undergo further treatment as her cancer had progressed to stage 3b.

After undergoing chemotherapy, the comedian was told that she had the all clear, but has been determined to spread the word on looking out for the signs.

On Twitter, Janey wrote: "Just a quick reminder of common ovarian cancer symptoms - feeling constantly bloated, a swollen tummy, discomfort in your tummy or pelvic area, feeling full quickly when eating, needing to pee more often than usual. Get checked soon, a tweet like this saved my life."
