Janey Godley admits she 'wants to cry' over cruel troll attacks amid terminal cancer battle

Janey Godley has been flooded with support online after she was targeted by vile trolls on social media as she continues to battle her terminal cancer diagnosis.

The Scots comedian took to Twitter to thank her loyal fleet of followers for all their "love and support" following a string of scathing comments on her health, as well as personally vilifying her over her support on trans rights.

Janey, 62, candidly opened up about the online abuse and admitted it makes her 'want to cry' at times, adding that behind all the laughs and positive facade she sometimes struggles with the backlash.

One vile tweet aimed at Janey said: "She should shave her head again even although it wasn’t required. Play a sympathy with major C."

Janey wrote to her followers on Twitter: "The @Beatson_Charity suggested that I shave my head as it was all falling out over my face and in my eyes but you just know better Debs, but I’ll always support trans people," she said sharing a heartbreaking photo looking worn down.

"Despite the gender critics mocking me for my cancer diagnosis I won’t stop supporting trans people," she added as fans rushed to the comments to support her.

"@JaneyGodley what you have to remember is you bring joy and love into people’s lives. Haters gonna hate, and it shrivels their lives with every vile tweet," said one person.

Another wrote: "@JaneyGodley is being harassed & taunted abused about Cancer simply because she offers daily support to Trans People. These idiots are lower than a Worms Tit."

Someone else quipped: "Dear Deb how’s this tweet working out for you? Not well I see. Jane is a brave warrior and needs support. If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything at all. Shame on you."

"You know how karma works? I hope for your sake it’s not true," Janey said as she hit back at one of the trolls.

"I’ve just spent a pleasant few minutes reporting loads of them from your timeline. It’s not enough but at least I can inconvenience the people who spew hatred. Keep your chin up lovely, you’re on the side of kindness and love, where else would you want to be xx," wrote another fan.

Janey also posted an update on with some good news, confirming her blood results came back normal, so she will be going ahead with another bout of chemotherapy on Wednesday.

The award-winning comedian was initially diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer in November 2021, and has since explained she will have to fight her health battle for the rest of her life.
