Janey Godley accepts comedy award from treatment bed as she receives another round of chemotherapy

Janey Godley scooped a comedy award and made an acceptance speech from her hospital bed.

The Scots comedian is currently battling cancer and, despite taking on a UK comedy tour, is also still receiving chemotherapy in between shows.

Janey's work has been recognised and she won 'Comedian's comedian' at the Chortle Awards.

And Janey took to Twitter to thank everyone for nominating her for the award, in a video where she can be seen receiving chemotherapy treatment.

Janey said: "Hey everybody it's Janey here, and I'm actually getting my chemotherapy right now, I want to thank everybody who voted me, I mean I've no done comedy in a year so I think yous are very misguided but thanks everybody this has fair lifted me up and I canny wait to see you all."

She added: "This is such a lovely lovely honour and it's obvious that I had to almost die to get it but ye know, that's comedy for ye! but thanks, yous are all amazing."

And many fans congratulated the 62-year-old on the award.

One wrote: "You are so deserving. Congratulations."

Another added: "Well deserved Janey."

While one said: "Well deserved Janey! You’re an inspiration."

Earlier this month, Janey kicked off her UK tour in Arbroath and said it felt "amazing" being back on stage for the first time since her cancer diagnosis.

Ahead of her performance, Janey told fans yesterday that this would be the "last tour of this life" after confirming in December that her ovarian cancer had returned following the all-clear last summer.

Shortly after the gig, she posted on social media, saying: "First time onstage on tour after the cancer diagnosis and it was amazing, yes it’s being filmed as well! Thanks Arbroath."
