Rangers could be plotting a January transfer window swoop for San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Jan Gregus.
The towering 6ft 3in star is enjoying a spell in the MLS with the California outfit, after previously spending time at Minnesota United and Copenhagen. The Slovakian international also has 30 caps to his name and has netted four goals for his country as Rangers look to bolster their options in the centre of the park with John Lundstram holding the fort this season.
Gregus has also been linked with a move to Stade Rennais in the upcoming window, but according to La Gazetta Express the Light Blues are interested in him on a free transfer. The enforcer is available to sign a deal with a new club, with the report stating that Rangers want 'just as much to recover a player without costs'.

The big star is believed to have the ability to play in front of the defence but also in midfield, similar to James Sands' current Ibrox role. However, Michael Beale may want to identify the position as a cause for concern with Steve Davis playing irregularly this season and Glen Kamara on the fringes.
The Englishman will have his first task against Hibernian in league action next week, with injury concerns yet to be fully allayed in the build up to a busy period for Rangers.
