Jamie Reuben has thanked Newcastle United fans after Eddie Howe's side made a perfect start to the new season. The Magpies produced a dominant performance to register a comfortable home win over Nottingham Forest.
Eddie Howe handed Nick Pope his black-and-white debut from the start, while Sven Botman made his first competitive outing for United as a late substitute. Newcastle were in control throughout the first-half, but were unable to put visiting goalkeeper Dean Henderson under any real pressure prior to the interval.
It took a stunning long-range strike from Fabian Schar to break the deadlock. The Swiss international advanced towards the corner of the box before beating Henderson at his near post with a thunderbolt.

Callum Wilson made sure of the points with a deft finish from a Joelinton cutback, looping the ball over the despairing dive of the Manchester United loanee. Newcastle did not register their first victory last term until December, but have got off the mark at the first time of asking this time around.
United co-owner Reuben was in attendance at St James' Park once again, and took to social media to praise the Toon Army for their support once again. He wrote: "TOON ARMY- Great performance and result. Atmosphere amazing. Thank you to all the @NUFC supporters. HWTL."
