Jamie Redknapp penned a touching and personal tribute to Pele following his death.
The sporting world has come together to pay tribute to the legend that was Pele following news of his death. The three-time World Cup winner had been in hospital in Sao Paulo since late November.
Taking to Instagram to share his sorrow, former Liverpool FC star Jamie Redknapp was just one of the thousands to send their condolences. Pele was a part of his life from an early age as his father, Harry Redknapp, would often speak of their time and journeys together, he wrote on Instagram.

Posting two photos of Pele in his youth, Jamie said: "Growing up as a kid Pele was the king. I used to listen to my dad tell stories about him, like the time he blocked a shot by the great man and his leg was stinging for days.
"He scored 2 goals in a World Cup final as a 17-year-old, can you imagine someone doing that today! Watching videos of him in the World Cup in 1970 in that incredible Brazil team made me want to become a footballer. His over head kick in escape to victory never gets old.
He added: "In an era when we talk about who is the best ever, this man was doing things they do now already in the 60s and 70s. Rest in peace Pele."
