Jamie Oliver learnt the hard way about the importance of backing up pictures and videos after losing 17 years worth of priceless content, including from the births of his children.
The TV chef, 47, experienced the loss while filming lockdown cookery show Keep Calm And Carry On with an iPhone. His precious personal files were wiped out when he transferred the footage to programme editors.
Oliver, who shares five children Poppy Honey Rosie, 21, Daisy Boo Pamela, 20, Petal Blossom Rainbow, 14, Buddy Bear Maurice, 12, and River Rocket Blue, six, with wife Jules, 48, told the Daily Mail’s Eden Confidential: “I lost all my pictures and videos of the past 17 years of my life,” wails the TV chef, 47, before explaining that files were somehow deleted while transferring digital footage to programme editors.
“There was a price to pay, and that was probably losing the births of all my children. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. I have mates who work at Apple and I have spoken to engineers and there is no safety net.
“I guess the moral of the story is, stop filming your children and live in the moment,” the Essex native added to the publication.
