Jamie O'Hara has hit back at Laura Woods after she mocked those who play Football Manager.
The TalkSport presenters caused a stir when she claimed on air that she doesn't play the immensely popular game because she "has a life". Football Manager is a hugely popular game among fans with its 2023 edition only coming out in recent months.
Woods' comments have resulted in a raft of social media comments from users, who have disagreed with her take, which was good-natured. She has since come out on social media and said: "Sorry guys, didn’t mean it" but her TalkSport colleague has poked fun in her direction.
Jamie O'Hara, a former Tottenham player, has responded to her Football Manager put down by saying: "Just won the treble with Spurs in my second season Woodsy, why you breaking my heart."
That sentiment was echoed around social media with gamers - and fans of Woods - hurt by her comments. One fan said: “Damn, that dig at Football Manager players by [Laura Woods] hit me hard there. Almost like my World Cup win with San Marino meant nothing.
A second wrote: “Well…. That’s my [heart]. [Laura Woods’] Football Manager opinion has done me, there’s no getting over this.” Another fan commented: “[Laura Woods] has just said she doesn’t play Football Manager because she has a life. I feel that now [it] has blown any chance I had. She thinks I have no life.”
Woods, who is among the leading sports broadcasters nowadays, has long enjoyed the back and forth with fans who engage with TalkSport. Her Arsenal allegiances are well known with the Gunners well poised at the top of the Premier League ahead of what could be an unlikely title triumph.
Arsenal suffered a surprise defeat at relegation-threatened Everton on Saturday, in what was Sean Dyche's first game in charge. It opened the door for Manchester City to close the gap, but they lost at Tottenham a day later, which led Woods to say on social media: “Always liked Spurs, me.”
Ally McCoist mocked Woods on Monday morning after Arsenal's loss, to which she responded: “Someone said you are very quiet about Arsenal this morning. Well yeah, because we lost. But we are still top of the league. Don’t worry about that!”
