Aberdeen midfielder Jamie McGrath could miss the rest of the 2024-25 season after receiving surgery on a shoulder injury.
An update from the Pittodrie club read: "Jamie McGrath has unfortunately sustained a shoulder injury and following surgery will now undertake an intensive rehab programme. He is expected to be sidelined for a number of months. We wish Jamie a speedy recovery!"
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin added: “Sometimes you have some consistent pattern injuries, but now we have these shoulder injuries. It's really bad luck.
“Actually, we tried to save Jamie because of his legs in this game and then after 30 seconds he fell and hurt his shoulder in that same game.”
Teammate Dante Polvara has also suffered a “minor setback” having just recently returned from a long-term absence.
Aberdeen's treatment table already includes Dimitar Mitov, Vicente Besuijen, Ester Sokler, Gavin Molloy and Jack Milne.
It leaves Thelin with a selection dilemma when St Mirren visit in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
The Dons haven't tasted league success since beating Dundee 11 weeks ago.
