Jamie Marinos Reveals She Doesn’t Think Dave Hand Was On MAFS ‘For The Right Reasons’

Married At First Sight (MAFS) fan-favourite Jamie Marinos has revealed whether she believed her ‘husband’, Dave Hand, was on the reality TV show for the right reasons.

Throughout the MAFS‘ 12th season, fans have grown to love 28-year-old Melburnian Jamie Marinos for her confidence, no-bullshit attitude and hilarious one-liners. However, towards the end of the season, the bride was at the centre of drama after her husband, Dave Hand, had seemingly switched up on her.

To give you a quick recap, Jamie and Dave were tipped to be one of the strongest couples to come out of the 2025 batch. But shortly after the bride confessed her love to her assigned husband, Dave seemingly pulled back from the relationship.

Eventually, following a tumultuous Feedback Week which was paired with a couple swap and an explosive Dinner Party, where he was confronted with his sudden attitude change, the pair were able to patch things up and stay in the experiment.

Throughout the devastating ordeal, MAFS fans began to question Dave’s intentions in the relationship and on the show, with some accusing the groom of cheating on Jamie with his couple swap partner, Veronica Cloherty. An allegation all three folks have dismissed.

Reflecting on her reality TV relationship, Jamie revealed to Yahoo! Lifestyle that she didn’t believe Dave was on the show “for the right reasons” during their fallout.

“At that moment in time, I don’t believe he was there for the right reasons, because of what was shown to me,” Jamie dished.

“That’s how I felt in that moment because I didn’t understand how you could flip the script. And it just felt like to me, in that moment, his mask had fallen off and I was essentially just his meal ticket or something.”

The fan-favourite bride then dished on the moment where Dave told producers in a voxxie: “I don’t hate the girl” when they asked him how he felt about Jamie at the height of their relationship woes.

“I felt like that was really hard to watch back as well, and seeing the full scope of what was going through his mind,” she added.

“I do understand that there’s clearly avoidant attachment, but I was really surprised in that moment, and even re-watching it, just the complete change up, so, of course, I questioned his intentions.

“It was awful to watch back because this is someone I’ve professed love to in front of the world essentially, I’ve spoken so highly of, and you know, when I needed to be validated and reassured, he essentially let me down massively and humiliated me.”

Married At First Sight‘s Dave Hand claps back at criticisms

Prior to Jamie’s chat with Yahoo! Lifestyle, the 36-year-old tradie urged fans to remember he was “looking for a deeper connection” and that he and his ‘bride’ have differing “love styles”.

“People are forgetting — I said from the start that I was looking for a deeper connection. Jamie on the other hand wanted to be love-bombed. We have two totally different love styles and that’s why we clash,” Dave told Daily Mail Australia.

“I know people want a yes or no answer, but that’s not how relationships work. I see glimpses of more, I see the potential, but it’s a process.

“This is what a real relationship is like, especially in this experiment. Just because I’m not where she’s at emotionally, you don’t just give up and go home. We both really do like each other.”

The groom also admitted that he “still [cares]” about Jamie, and regrets “she had to go through this situation”.

Although they were tipped to be one of this year’s strongest couples, I still don’t think they would be making it past the ouch couch.

But hey, we’ve still got a full week of MAFS left. Who knows what twist they’ll pull on us?

Married At First Sight returns tomorrow on Channel Nine and 9Now.
