An attorney for Jamie Lynn Spears said it was “disappointing” to see Britney Spears’ cease-and-desist letter circulating through the media during the sisters’ highly publicized feud.
In a letter responding to the cease-and-desist on Wednesday, Jamie Lynn’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, said his client’s two children have received violent threats amid the drama, according to TMZ.
“As an initial matter, in your Letter you state that Britney is going to take the ‘high road.’ However, just today your client posted vile statements on social media concerning Jamie Lynn,” Freedman said in his letter, which TMZ published online.
Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, sent the cease-and-desist letter earlier this week, urging Jamie Lynn to stop speaking about her singing sibling “derogatorily” as she promotes her new book.
Jamie Lynn’s lawyer claimed in his response that his client remains supportive of Britney.
“Jamie Lynn hopes that there will no further postings or inflammatory letters being sent to the media,” Freedman wrote. “Beyond telling the truth, and denying the allegations against her, as a mother, Jamie Lynn needs to protect her children and cannot continue to be subjected to death threats, and other postings insinuating physical violence against her and her family. Jamie Lynn supports Britney and as always, she hopes she can get the healing, peace, and freedom she rightfully deserves.”
Britney, 40, has accused her sister, 30, of not being supportive during her lengthy legal battle to end a court-ordered conservatorship. The conservatorship, which saw Britney’s father and others control aspects of her life, was terminated in November after 13 years.
Jamie Lynn, who starred on the Nickelodeon series “Zoey 101″ as a child actress, has repeatedly contended that she supports her sister.
“I’m happy to share how many times I’ve reached out to you, supported you and tried to help you,” Jamie Lynn tweeted last week. “This is embarrassing and has to stop. Love you.”
