Ex-footballer Jamie Carragher wooed his childhood sweetheart Nicola Hart by splashing out on a swanky Dubai hotel room with a mirror above the bed.
“I was trying to impress her,” he says of the exclusive Burj Al Arab. She must have been impressed, as the couple have been together for 26 years now.
“It was our first holiday together, she wasn’t the wife then,” he says, joking that his opulent trip clearly did the trick.
The couple wed in 2005, and have two children together, and visit Italy now for “sexy time”, he reveals, which is a step up from his childhood holidays spent sneaking into chalets at Butlin’s in Pwllheli.
“Loads bunked it,” he laughs to Alan Carr on his Life’s a Beach podcast, out tomorrow.
“You drove in, there would be someone in the boot, everybody got in the chalet. That’s my childhood memories.”
Jamie has also vowed to never set foot in Paris again after this year’s Champions League final descended into chaos and Liverpool fans were teargassed by bungling French officials.
“It was a bad experience for the fans, there was a lot of trouble. There’s a bitter taste after that one,” he says.
“Paris was a nightmare. I don’t think I would ever go to Paris again.”
Quiet Kim knocks her kids' socks off
Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh wanted to surprise her three sons with her appearance on the Masked Dancer, which made it particularly tricky to keep the show’s secrets.
The singer said being revealed as Odd Socks on Saturday would “absolutely blow my kids’ minds”.
She added: “My kids and my nephews are obsessed with the show and do Masked Dancer competitions every weekend so I wanted to do it for them.
“I’m so close to my family, I feel like I have been avoiding them for weeks.”
After the big reveal she filmed her brood squealing with delight on Saturday night, and begging to know how she kept quiet about it.
Laundry day will always be a laugh in that household.
