Jamie Carragher told how members of his family were fighting coronavirus.
The Liverpool legend said his wife Nicola tested positive for the virus and his auntie was admitted to hospital.
Former defender Jamie married his long-term love Nicola Hart on July 1, 2005, when he was 27 years old.
He told the ECHO that his wife tested postive for the virus several weeks ago but is now fine.
The couple have two children together: Mia, 15, and James, 17.
Jamie, 42, met his future wife when they were both still at primary school.
Despite growing up together, they only began dating after Jamie turned 18.
He opened up about the impact of the devastating pandemic and insisted health must come before sport in his Telegraph column.
The Bootle-born Sky Sports pundit said: "Nobody needs to tell me that the health of those closest to us matters most.
"My wife, Nicola, has tested positive for Covid-19. My aunt was in hospital with Covid-19 last week and is recovering.

"So while I am eager for the games to return, it goes without saying that nobody wants decisions taken for the wrong reasons, at the wrong time, contrary to government and scientific advice.
"But where football is concerned, I also firmly believe this: although the safety of players, fans, staff and the broader public is top of the agenda in the decision-making process, sporting integrity must be second."
In his autobiography, the England player revealed he proposed not once but twice to Nicola.
And the reason is that he messed up big time on his first attempt.
The sports star admitted he proposed with a ring that didn’t fit Nicola and gave her a mis-wrapped present.
He also urged fans to have realistic expectations on when football can resume in front of packed stadiums.
Jamie added: "We must accept large gatherings such as those at football stadiums will be banned, or at least compromised with reduced attendances.
"Sadly, it will need only one footballer or staff member at a club to be infected and the virus can spread again."
