Jamie Carragher has had some more fun at Manchester United's expense on social media after he stuck the boot in over footage of Wout Weghorst touching the iconic 'This Is Anfield' sign before Sunday's crushing 7-0 defeat.
United were already licking their wounds following their joint-heaviest defeat ever after a second-half capitulation on Merseyside at the weekend when the clip of Weghorst in the tunnel went viral on Tuesday afternoon.
The on-loan Burnley striker's act has infuriated Manchester United fans on social media - and Carragher was quick to rub salt into their wounds with a mischievous post of his own shortly after the clip had made headlines.
Carragher had already been having plenty of fun at Gary Neville's expense after the duo commentated on Sunday's match. And the former Anfield favourite went one further with his response to Weghorst's naive pre-match gesture.
Reacting to the snippet, which was shared on the 'Inside Anfield' footage on Liverpool's YouTube channel, Carragher posted an Instagram story with a grab of Weghorst and the Anfield sign with the caption: "It gets worse", complete with an emoji covering its eyes.
Carragher's quip is unlikely to go down well with Manchester United fans, with some even insisting that the on-loan striker simply has to leave the club at the end of the season as a result of his transgression.
Footage of Weghorst's pre-match stunt has capped a rotten few days for the Dutch forward, who was slammed by Old Trafford favourite Paul Scholes in the immediate aftermath of Sunday's match.

Scholes questioned Weghorst's contributions after Erik ten Hag withdrew his compatriot just before the hour mark. Weghorst has earned plenty of plaudits from his manager for his pressing ability and intelligent movement, but he's now scored just once in 14 appearances since cutting a season-long spell at Besiktas short in January and has failed to find the net at all in the Premier League.
Weghorst's latest blunt display comes just weeks after Richard Keys claimed that United were effectively "playing with 10 men" by persevering with the former Wolfsburg man.
And Scholes now believes that it's crystal clear that Weghorst simply isn't good enough to play for a team like Manchester United. He told Premier League Productions after Sunday's match: "Weghorst is in the team to be a defender, really.
"You’re talking about a Manchester United No.10 or a centre-forward, [but] he’s in the team to be defensive. He’s the one who runs about and rats about and everybody likes playing with him because he does that. But quality-wise as well you’ve got to have a certain level of quality to play for Man United… it’s not there."
