Jamie Carragher has said that he would be 'delighted' if Liverpool sign Mason Mount and Alexis Mac Allister this summer. The Chelsea midfielder faces an increasingly uncertain future at Stamford Bridge with his contract expiring at the end of next season, while the Brighton star has turned heads with his impressive performances.
football.london understands that the Blues have been in conversation with Mount over a new deal but talks have proven complicated, with the proposed length of contract and wage packet an issue. If the England international does not put pen to paper on an extension then he'll become a free agent in June 2024 and, until then, be available for a cut-price fee.
It's said that Liverpool are long-admirers of Mount, and Carragher wants his former side to wrap up a deal. Meanwhile, with regard to Mac Allister, football.london understands that he's a serious option for the west Londoners, but it's said that the Reds are keen too.

Carragher is a big fan of both Mount and Mac Allister, explaining to the Anfield Wrap why they should be welcomed to Anfield with open arms. The 45-year-old said: "Mason Mount is a funny one in that people always seem a little bit down on him for whatever reason.
"I’ve never got it, I’m a huge fan. He’s a Champions League winner. I really like him. He’s got energy to press, he’d provide a greater goal threat from midfield than we have from Jordan in that position right now.
“Every top manager who’s been at Chelsea has picked him. Plays for England and I think the club have also got to be thinking about that homegrown situation."

"If we brought Mac Allister and Mason Mount in I’d be delighted with that," Carragher added. "I definitely want us to bring a defensive midfield player in as well, because Mount and Mac Allister are more offensive midfield players.
"I don’t think our problem is going forward, our problem is defensively. If we’re gonna get back to where we wanna be, which is challenging Man City and challenging for big trophies, we’ve got to sort ourselves out defensively because that’s been the biggest problem this season."
While Mount is contracted to Chelsea for a further 12 months, Todd Boehly could be left no option but to offload him if he decides against an extension. The next Blues manager will not want a potentially unhappy player in the squad.
