Jamie Carragher quickly reacts to Cristiano Ronaldo brutally snubbing Gary Neville

Gary Neville has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese superstar didn't shake his hand in the build-up to Manchester United's game against West Ham United.

The 37-year-old went over to greet former team-mate Louis Saha, who was working for Sky Sports, before his side's clash with the Hammers at Old Trafford. Ronaldo also briefly spoke to ex-Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp as he ran out with the rest of the United squad to warm up.

However, Ronaldo completely blanked Neville and didn't greet the former United defender, who has previously been critical of the forward's behaviour. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner had a quick look at Neville before running off as prepared for his side's meeting with West Ham.

After being blanked by Ronaldo, Neville said: "We're off the Christmas card list aren't we?" It's a similar incident to one that happened back in August, when Ronaldo greeted both Roy Keane and Neville before United's clash with Liverpool, but didn't speak to Jamie Carragher.

The Liverpool legend was completely snubbed by Ronaldo on the day and he provided a cheeky response on social media to Neville's blank on Sunday. Carragher said on Twitter : "Welcome to the, blanked by Ronaldo club @GNev2." Neville responded with a laughing and handshake emojis.

Ronaldo has been in the headlines for the right and the wrong reasons in recent weeks, but returned to the starting XI in the Premier League for the first time in three matches against West Ham. Anthony Elanga and Harry Maguire have also been handed rare starts, with Antony, Jadon Sancho and Victor Lindelof all dropping out the side.

When speaking about his selection, Erik ten Hag said: "Harry played 45 minutes so he had a good training week. Now, I think he's ready to play and he wanted already to start on Thursday but now he's ready.

"I think [ Cristiano Ronaldo ] played a pretty good game on Thursday; attacking-wise, defending-wise as well. We know they are different opponents but he did well as well in the team and that's why we chose him."

He confirmed Antony's absence is not due to his trickery against FC Sheriff. "He is injured - and I hope not too bad, I think not too bad and, in a couple of days, he will be back."

Antony did not have an impactful performance during the game against the Moldovan side on Thursday, with his most eye-catching moment coming as he performed a double pirouette on the ball – before playing a pass straight out of play. Antony was substituted off at half-time for Rashford, who scored United’s second goal.
