Jamie Carragher praises Arsenal’s ‘bravery’ as Mikel Arteta’s side give Emirates a new party atmosphere

Jamie Carragher hailed Arsenal’s “bravery” as Mikel Arteta’s young side continue to soar in the Premier League.

A dramatic 3-2 victory over Liverpool on Sunday saw Arsenal reclaim top spot from Manchester City, serving as another statement win a week after beating Tottenham.

Arteta has fielded the youngest squad on average in the Premier League this season, further underlining the work that has been done in the transfer market since his appointment.

The club have backed him to bring in the likes of Ben White, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Magalhaes in recent seasons, while further developing young stars in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

There has been a significant shift in direction since the decisions to hand Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang lucrative long-term contracts and the new policy has largely been vindicated this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher said: “In terms of Arsenal, I’ve always been a fan of what Mikel Arteta is doing there, or trying to do.

“I love the energy of the team, I love the bravery of going with young players and I just love the energy in the stadium.

“That’s something I haven’t seen since I’ve been doing this job.”
