Jamie Carragher orders Man Utd to steal Thomas Tuchel from Chelsea following sanctions

Jamie Carragher has ordered Manchester United to capitalise on Chelsea's turmoil and attempt to steal Thomas Tuchel and make him their new manager.

The British government has officially added Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to the list of sanctioned individuals on Thursday, and granted the Blues with a sporting licence to continue trading whilst their assets have been frozen.

But in doing so, Chelsea have been thrown into chaos with their club sale now in serious doubt with any potential takeover now on hold as part of the order, and The Government has told the club they cannot even sell tickets to matches, and the club shop has been closed.

Staff and players will still be paid despite the frozen assets, but all transactions have been blocked, and Carragher has urged United to use this situation to their advantage.

United currently have Ralf Rangnick as interim boss until the end of the season, as they plot their next long-term manager after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier this season.

Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino has emerged as favourites for the job, and odds on the former Tottenham boss have been slashed following Paris Saint Germain's Champions League exit to Real Madrid.

But Carragher thinks that United should be cheeky and attempt to snatch Tuchel from Chelsea, as 'no manager wants to be working amid such a background of uncertainty'.

Carragher wrote in his column for The Telegraph: "Tuchel, like everyone else at Stamford Bridge, will have no idea what the future holds at his current club.

"No-one can offer him any assurances about how the squad will look at the start of next season given the club’s sale is on hold.

"No manager wants to be working amid such a background of uncertainty. If he gets the chance to leave for a club of United’s stature, he must take it.

"United can offer him the security and backing every top coach craves. Yes, it will seem a predatory move – taking advantage of Chelsea’s crisis – but from United and Tuchel’s perspective the more you consider it, the more of a no-brainer it is."

Tuchel was recently awarded FIFA coach of the year, and it was well deserved too, following his incredible impact at Chelsea during the course of 2021.

The German replaced Frank Lampard in January 2021, and led Chelsea to Champions League glory later that season, beating Manchester City 1-0 in the final, and he almost won the FA Cup two weeks prior.

Chelsea also seem to have third place nailed down in the Premier League this season, and Tuchel has made them an extremely difficult side to beat, but with the uncertainty of what's to come, he may be considering his future.

It would be the perfect appointment for United, but whether a deal is actually possible is still unknown, although Tuchel would have to be the main priority if he was available.
