Jamie Carragher is hopeful Liverpool will bridge the gap to Manchester City this season - just like they did last season.
Liverpool lost out on the Premier League title to City by just a single point on the final day of the 2021-22 campaign. But in January, they had been 14 points behind Pep Guardiola's men and the title looked to be over.
The Reds are currently eight points adrift of City, who are level with third-placed Tottenham Hotspur, and nine behind Arsenal at the top. But former Anfield hero Carragher is hoping Jurgen Klopp's side can channel the form of last season and pull the gap back.

Liverpool face a testing month in October with games coming thick and fast. A trip to league leaders Arsenal awaits and then a week later, the Reds will welcome reigning champions City to Anfield.
And Carragher told Sky Sports: "It's only six weeks ago since the season started and last season they was two games away from doing something that's never been done in the history in our country. They were so close to winning four trophies.
"There's been a slight change in terms of new players coming in and a few players moving on, but that's natural at a club the size of Liverpool's when they've had so much success over the past five years.
"There's a little bit of a gap between themselves and Manchester City, but they bridged that gap last season and, certainly from my point of view, I hope they can do it again."
