Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool usually get their recruitment right, especially when spending big, as Darwin Nunez's transfer from Benfica to Anfield nears completion. The Reds battled off the likes of Manchester United to convince Nunez to join.
For Liverpool to agree a fee with the Portuguese side, they would have had to smash the £75million record fee they spent on Virgil van Dijk in January 2018 and that is exactly what they did. The package for Nunez could rise to £85million if all of the add-ons are achieved.
However, there is just one down side to Liverpool signing Nunez - and that is the impending departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich. It is believed the Bavarian club are close to agreeing a fee that the Reds find suitable.

When talking to Sky Sports, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher spoke about the imminent arrival of the 22-year-old striker: "Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp normally get their recruitment right certainly when they spend big.
"The figures we're talking - that's what they spent on the goalkeeper and Van Dijk and they made a huge difference.
"Liverpool right now do need to refresh their front line because of the age of that front three who have been absolutely fantastic over the last four or five years for Liverpool.
"It is sad to see it broken up in some ways but it had to come to an end sooner or later and with Sadio Mane looking like he's going to move on, Liverpool had to do something and he's the one they've identified."
