Just over 24 hours after launching into a furious outburst on Tottenham, Jamie Carragher's wish has been granted by the club. After tweeting angrily with regards to the performance and decisions made by Daniel Levy, Carragher's demands for Cristian Stellini to be sacked have been welcomed.
In a statement from Spurs chairman Levy it was confirmed that interim assistant manager Ryan Mason would be taking over as caretaker boss with Stellini relieved of his duties immediately. It comes after the humiliating 6-1 defeat to Newcaslte on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs found themselves 5-0 down after 20 minutes away to their fellow top four rivals in a game that massively dented their chances of securing Champions League football next season. More than that, it exposed frailties within the squad far beyond any imagation.

In what was described by Stellini - who only managed four games after continuing on after the sacking of Antonio Conte last month - as the worst 25 minutes he had ever seen and Carragher agreed. After just 27 minutes of action he took to social media.
"Newcastle are brilliant, they have been all season," he tweeted. "Tottenham are a disgrace! How have they gone to a back four for the first time this season, with Porro a full back that can’t defend & Perisic who is a winger.
"Get a proper manager in right now, not Conte’s mate."
Although Mason is probably still not what Carragher would consider a 'proper manager', it does move on from the Conte regime. He managed the club briefly during the summer of 2021 too, taking over after Jose Mourinho was sacked at the end of the season.
The choice by Levy was announced with the heavily criticised figure writing: "Sunday’s performance against Newcastle was wholly unacceptable. It was devastating to see. We can look at many reasons why it happened and whilst myself, the Board, the coaches and players must all take collective responsibility, ultimately the responsibility is mine.
"Cristian will leave his current role along with his coaching staff. Cristian stepped in at a difficult point in our season and I want to thank him for the professional manner in which he and his coaching staff have conducted themselves during such a challenging time. We wish him and his staff well.
"Ryan Mason will take over Head Coach duties with immediate effect. Ryan knows the Club and the players well. We shall update further on his coaching staff in due course.
"I met with the Player Committee today - the squad is determined to pull together to ensure the strongest possible finish to the season. We are all clear we need to deliver performances which earn your amazing support."
Spurs face Manchester United at home on Thursday in a game that offers a glimmer of hope for securing top four qualification. It will be the third new manager in charge in just four home games and is set to be greeted with further discontent after supporters let their anger be known at how the club has been run since 2019.
