Jamie Carragher explains why he has been impressed by Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch will prove to be a 'great addition to the Premier League'. That is the verdict of Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher, who has been impressed by his 'energy, personality and the detail' when the Whites boss speaks.

Marsch replaced the hugely popular Marcelo Bielsa in the Elland Road hotseat and after losing his first two games, has guided Leeds to a run of five matches unbeaten.

United still find themselves in a relegation battle, though, with just five points separating them from 18th placed Everton in the Premier League table.

Nonetheless, the former New York Red Bulls, RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig boss has impressed Carragher and feels the Leeds supporters will 'take him to their heart'.

"I really like him," the former Liverpool and England defender told Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. "They loved the last manager and I’m sure they’ll take him to their heart. For us, the answer that he gives you, the detail he gives you. I can understand, sometimes, when you talk to managers at different times, they’re a little guided and I totally respect that.

"It’s nice at times, we looked at the wide players, it gets clarified by the manager. It’s not just that detail, it’s the energy when he speaks. I’ve been really impressed, not just the results, but his personality. I think he’ll be a great addition to the Premier League."

Carragher was joined in the Sky Sports studio by former Leeds forward Robbie Keane, who believes Marsch has already 'completely answered' all of his critics.

"When he first came, there was a few things said about a TV show [Ted Lasso]," Keane added. "I think he’s completely answered all of the critics. I’ve played in the USA and the coaching is very good, they don’t get the credit they deserve.

"He’s done it in Europe. He knows what he's talking about. When he speaks, you can tell he sleeps football 24 hours a day. He knows what he’s talking about. To lose Bielsa, the fans adore him up there, but they’ve taken to him so far and long may that continue."
