Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has suggested that Arsenal’s clash with the Reds on Wednesday could be ‘absolutely huge’ for the Premier League title race.
The Gunners welcome Jurgen Klopp’s men to the Emirates Stadium for an evening match, with both sides heading into the game with huge incentives. Arsenal are currently in prime position to claim a place in next season’s Champions League and hold a one-point advantage over Manchester United - albeit with three games in hand.
Elsewhere, the Reds will hope to haul themselves right back into the race for the title having seen Manchester City held by Crystal Palace on Monday evening. It is certainly a remarkable reversal in fortunes for the Merseyside outfit over recent weeks, with Pep Guardiola’s troops seemingly on a procession to the crown.

Carragher is certainly aware of the pivotal role that the midweek meeting at the Emirates Stadium could play in the complexion of the remainder of the season.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “For so long in the last few weeks, City have been six points ahead of Liverpool, but they’ve had the game in hand.
“But it’s still six points, you still have to win that game. I do feel the next game against Arsenal is absolutely huge. I think if Liverpool win away at Arsenal, physiologically that would really hurt City.
“Arsenal away and Manchester City away are the two big problems in Liverpool’s fixture list. Manchester City watching at home, Liverpool win at Arsenal, and go within a point and then they play Watford, you expect them to beat Watford.
“I actually think the fixtures, the next four for Liverpool and the next three for Manchester City could play a massive part. I do think the toughest games are right upon us right now.”
It is certainly set to be a testing clash for either side at the Emirates Stadium. Both Arsenal and Liverpool are in excellent form ahead of the game.
The Gunners have won each of their last five league games following their 2-0 victory over Leicester City. Liverpool meanwhile are on a run of eight consecutive wins in the Premier League having earned three points against Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend.
