Tottenham placed a major dent into Manchester City's Premier League title hopes the day after Arsenal suffered only their second league loss of the season against Everton. Pep Guardiola's men had the opportunity to close the gap down to the Gunners to two points but they were paid a massive favour by their north London rivals who beat City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday
Harry Kane was the man who provided the winning goal, breaking Jimmy Greaves' 266 goal record in the process, and despite his goal coming in the 15th minute, City were unable to find a way back into the game. That win took Spurs to within one point of Newcastle, who hold the final Champions League qualification spot.
Not only does the victory secured by Antonio Conte's men help their top-four charge but they have also handed Arsenal a significant boost in the title race after they lost 1-0 to Everton on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta's men did not look themselves in Merseyside as they were outfought at Goodison Park in Sean Dyche's first game in charge of the Toffees. James Tarkowski's towering header gave City the perfect incentive to close the gap ahead of their league meeting against Spurs, but they were met by a very different team to the one they comfortably picked apart two weeks ago.
Jamie Carragher, who has on many occasions said he thinks Arsenal will win the league, delivered his latest verdict on who will be bringing home the silverware in May with a worrying claim on the reigning champions.
Speaking to Sky Sports. he said: "We keep talking about Arsenal and Manchester City and there’s still a long way to go, but you’re almost still waiting for City to kick in to be the City that we know so well.
"It just feels like this might be the season where they’re not quite themselves for lots of different reasons, I’m sure we’ll get to that, as well maybe the role of Haaland in the team as well. It’s just not the Man City of old.
"Look what they’ve done to Liverpool a couple of times in title races, I’m not sure it will happen because it feels like a different City that we’re watching right now."
