Jamie Carragher claims Newcastle United's Alexander Isak would fix Man United's striker crisis

Jamie Carragher has claimed that Alexander Isak would be "fantastic" for Manchester United after he hailed the "special" Newcastle United striker.

Isak put in another quality display in the 2-0 win over Manchester United at St James' Park on Sunday, and then came off the bench as Eddie Howe's side claimed a 5-1 victory over West Ham on Wednesday night.

And during Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show, the former Liverpool defender could not help but heap praise on the Newcastle star.

"I love him," Carragher said when asked about Isak's performance. "I love watching him play. I mean Manchester United need a centre forward and you look at him, I think he’d actually be fantastic for Manchester United.

"They could have got him at the start of the season, but for me, since seeing him in his first appearance at Anfield he looked outstanding, he looked electric.

"Highlighting his body shape, he doesn’t just press the goalkeeper, it goes this side and this leads to the [first] goal. Anybody that tells you now that centre forward play is all about scoring goals is just living in a dream world - this is what centre forwards have to do. You have to press, you have to have pace and energy, score goals and be involved in build-up play.

"I just love the energy, the aggression on that ball and it all comes from this pressure. That goal is all down to him, now he doesn’t get the goal, he doesn’t get the assist, but the most important player in that game going one nil was Alexander Isak.

"I absolutely love him and since he came on at half-time in the cup final he’s been Newcastle’s main centre forward. He’s took over from Callum Wilson, that’s not going to change and I think Newcastle have got a special, special centre forward."
