Jamie Carragher asks Man City to 'prove him right' after Liverpool draw

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool's points against Tottenham Hotspur could turn out to be an 'important' one as Manchester City have the chance to move three points clear at the top of the Premier League on Sunday when they take on Newcastle United.

Liverpool had to come from behind to secure a point against Antonio Conte's side at Anfield after Son Heung-Min gave Spurs the lead in the second half before Luis Diaz equalised with a deflected strike.

Pep Guardiola's men can put Champions League heartbreak behind them on Sunday when they take on Eddie Howe's side at the Etihad Stadium to move three points ahead of Liverpool.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher took to Twitter to say: "Good game and a draw was a fair result, that point could still turn out to be important! I always felt both teams would drop points so prove me right please Man City!"

The Reds, who reached their third Champions League final in five years on Tuesday night, found it hard work breaking down a stubborn Spurs defence and failed to create any clear-cut chances in the match.

Next up for Liverpool is another trip to Wembley as they take on Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup on Saturday, May 14 while Man City take on Wolves away in the Premier League on the same weekend.
