Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville agree on Wolves star Pedro Neto amid Arsenal transfer links

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have previously described Pedro Neto as a "special" and "fantastic" player amid reports linking the Wolves star with a move to Arsenal.

The 22-year-old, who is yet to score or assist in three Premier League appearances this season, is reportedly a top target for Arsenal and is seen as a potential replacement for Nicolas Pepe should the Ivorian leave this summer. According to The Athletic, the north Londoners have been in talks with Wolves over a potential deal for more than a month, although Bruno Lage's side are understood to not be keen on selling the Portuguese international this summer.

Although still young, Neto has established himself as one of the brightest young wingers in the Premier League. Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has previously heaped praise on the attacker, as has former Manchester United star Gary Neville.

Speaking on Sky Sports Monday Night Football ahead of Wolves' 2-1 loss to Burnley in December 2020, as per The Focus, Carragher said: "[Diogo] Jota's gone and this guy (Neto) 's come in. Looking at his finishes here, hard and low with his left foot.

"I can't help but think of a player I played a lot of my career with, Robbie Fowler. Always finding that side-netting, it seems Wolves have found another really special player."

Agreeing with his fellow Sky Sports pundit, Neville added: "They always sign strikers who can move, who are agile and mobile. [Daniel] Podence and Neto are fantastic – I think they will go to 'bigger' clubs.

"Look at Manchester City, that forward line. The goals they're going to need to replace with [Sergio] Aguero. They'll be looking at these types of lads and thinking, 'they could do us'."

It remains to be seen if Neto makes the move to north London, but with more than a week left of the transfer window, a move certainly cannot be ruled out.
