Captain James Tavernier refused to be drawn on Rangers title hopes after their miserable draw with Livingston left Celtic four points clear at the top.
Joel Nouble gave the visitors an early lead with David Martindale's men putting in an impressive defensive display as they kept Rangers at bay for the majority of the Scottish Premiership showdown. It took Livingston going down to 10 men to allow the home side to rescue the point, with Morgan Boyes high challenge on Alfredo Morelos being upgraded from a yellow to a red after a VAR review.
John Lundstram would level the game late in the showdown, but that wasn't enough to appease the furious Rangers faithful as they booed off their side for the second time this week after a poor showing in Wednesday's Premier Sports Cup win over Dundee. The result puts the defending Scottish champions in the driving seat after they came out on top during a whirlwind 4-3 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle.
Tavernier was then quizzed on their Scottish Premiership title ambitions, with Ange Postecoglou's men now holding a four-point lead at the top of the table. Tavernier was asked “That’s Celtic four points clear, how confident are you that you can up the performance levels and claw that back?”
He responded: “We have just got to concentrate on ourselves and go game by game in the league, and get the three points every single game. We can’t focus on them, we just have to focus on our performances and move on from that.”
The Ibrox skipper has revealed the player held a post match debrief behind closed doors after the lacklustre showing against Livingston, stating: “Our first half performance wasn’t good enough.
"Second half we changed things and tried to create chances but rescuing a point is not good enough especially at home. We are all very disappointed in that dressing room.
“We have had an honest chat and we all have to look at ourselves. We got a point but that’s never good enough for our standards and our club and we apologise to the fans. It’s only us in that changing room that’s going to change things and we have to deliver for the manager and the fans but our performance over the 90 minutes wasn't good enough."
