James Sands says qualifying for the World Cup is "only the beginning" for the USA after they booked their slot in Qatar.
The Rangers star was on the bench as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Costa Rica in the early hours of Thursday morning.
But they went into that clash with a huge margin for error knowing anything less than a 6-0 defeat would see them qualify for the tournament.
And they got over the line and will return to the biggest tournament in international football after missing out on Russia in 2018.
A delighted Sands was picked for press duties after the game and the Ibrox star says it was an "amazing feeling" to qualify.
And he's warned it's only the beginning for a talented young USA side.
Sands said: "It's a really amazing feeling. All the guys have worked so hard so players, staff and everyone involved really deserve it.
"Whether we were part of the last group or just watching on TV, it makes this moment even more special.
"It's a special feeling. We have a lot of young players that makes this group really ambitious. We have a combination of young and old players so it's a special mix of motivated guys.
"This is just the start for us."
