James Milner believes he may have found Liverpool's lucky omen ahead of the new Premier League season following the Reds' Community Shield victory over Manchester City.
The veteran midfielder has sported a new look since the Reds began their pre-season preparations at the start of this month, revealing that Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson had convinced him to persist with a beard earlier this summer.
After the victory at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, the 36-year-old took to Twitter to reveal that he may keep his new-found look after his side marked its first outing by claiming their third trophy of 2022, tweeting: "One shave is all it takes. Delighted to have won my first trophy with a beard. Might need to keep it now. #YNWA "

Last week while at the club's European-based training camp in Austria, Milner revealed that it was because of his two close friends in the Reds' squad, Henderson and Robertson, that he had decided to sport the new look.
“A couple of weeks ago we were in Singapore, we were in the treatment room having a bit of craic and Hendo and Robbo were on me and said, ‘Go on, you need to grow it.," explained Milner to Liverpoolfc.com.
“I said, ‘Alright, why not? I’ll do it for banter.’ We’ll see where it goes. They’ve got a month of growth; we’re two weeks in so we’ll see where it goes from here. They’re in control of it, so if it’s no good it’s their fault!”
